What is Sheathed Wire?


Sheathed wire refers to single-core or multi-core wires with an outer protective sheath, offering enhanced safety. Simply put, the most commonly used "sheathed wire" consists of a white PVC jacket enclosing several BV wires inside. This type of wire generally uses copper conductors, with an insulation layer around the conductor plus an additional outer protective layer. Common sheathed wire types include RVV, BVV, RVVB, and BVVB. Sheathed wires can be divided into hard sheathed wire and soft sheathed wire. Based on application environment and shape, they are classified into round sheathed wire (typically multi-core) and flat sheathed wire (typically single-core).

1. The maximum rated conductor temperature is 90°C. Under short-circuit conditions (lasting no more than 5 seconds), the maximum conductor temperature shall not exceed 250°C.  

3. Permissible bending radius during installation: no less than 15 times the cable outer diameter for single-core cables; no less than 10 times the cable outer diameter for multi-core cables.
